What are the penalties associated with dyed diesel fuel?
If dyed diesel fuel is found in the fuel supply tank of a motor vehicle, there is $2,500 penalty imposed for the first offense and a $5,000 penalty imposed for each additional offense. If a licensed distributor/supplier knowingly sells dyed diesel fuel for highway use, there is a $5,000 penalty imposed for the first offense and a $10,000 penalty is imposed for each additional offense. If a storage tank is not properly marked with dyed diesel information, there is a $500 penalty imposed for the first offense and a $1,000 penalty imposed for each additional occurrence. If dyed diesel is sold or transferred without the notice required, there is a $500 penalty imposed for the first occurrence and a $1,000 penalty for each occurrence thereafter.
