What is a 1099-G?

Form 1099-G, Certain Government Payments, is mailed as a reminder of the overpayments you received from the Illinois Department of Revenue during the prior year. The overpayment amounts listed include all refunds, credits, voluntary contributions, and any overpayments that were credited to an outstanding balance. To view the amount of your 1099-G, visit our1099-G Certain Government Payments Inquiry application. You may need to report the amounts from Form 1099-G as income on your federal income tax return.

If you are unsure about reporting these amounts to the Internal Revenue Service, please contact them by writing to:
INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE
KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI 64999
or by calling 1 800-829-1040.

If you did not receive or lost Form 1099-G, you can obtain the information from our web site.
