I filed my Form IL-1040 electronically but my return does not show up on your refund inquiry system. What should I do?

  • If you filed your return through a tax professional, you need to contact your tax professional to make sure your return was accepted by the department.
  • If you used Web File to file your return, you should have received a confirmation number as proof of your filing. If you did not receive a confirmation number you must file your Form IL-1040 again.
  • If you used tax preparation software, you should have received a confirmation number as proof of your filing. If you did not receive a confirmation number, you need to check with the software provider to make sure your return was accepted by the department.
